If you want in

Walk planning.
Looking locally at back lanes and canals. Their habitual use.
Thinking about the dog that was locked up in a shed and now sticks close to the wall, when out walking.
What if you take a wider ring, or traverse the expanse..

'I walk on metal grilles above smelly water, I climb the ladder, I stand on a bridge above a brown lagoon, little flocs of sludge and clarified liquor spilling over the edge of the outer circle. The bridge is turning very slowly, sweeping the spill-off round and I'm thinking illicit sneaking thoughts - no one can see me up here, just me and machinery and tiny organisms.'

March 28, 2016

I have two tiny plots. One is like a child's garden. Full of small treasures, all piled in together, each one having some secret meaning, like a room full of all your friends, dead and alive, near and far,  with no account as to whether they look good together, or even get on. I love it.
In the second one I have buried a fox, that we found lying in a neighbour's garden.  Later I may plant  a tree on that spot.  I have also scattered the seeds we used in Mother You. There is decaying eucalyptus leaf, masses of couch grass, some left over raspberry canes from the previous inhabitants, a little horseradish and borage and some propagated plants from another garden.

As the city commemorates, I sit in the eye of this storm and all is quiet.

Solastalgia, coined by Glenn Albrecht.

from Solacium (comfort) and Algia (pain)

The pain experienced when there is recognition that the place where one resides and that one loves is under immediate assault...a form of homesickness one gets when one is still at home.
